VISIT OF LORD JELLICOE. CLAIMS OF mYEBCABGILL. The Mayor (Mr John Stead) has been in communication with Mr G. W. Russell, with regard to the visit of Lord Jelliooe and the desire of the people of Invercargill that they should have an opportunity of welcoming the great sailor. On Saturday the Mayor received the following telegram from the Hon. G. W, Russell: —

“In respect to the visit of the battle-

cruiser New Zealand, I regret to advise

that the itinerary submitted by Viscount Jellicoe indicated that the vessel will not proceed further south than Lyttelton. The desire of the people of Invercargill to extend their hospitality will be brought under notice on arrival at Wellington.”
