NEW RABBIT BOARDS

MEETINGS IN THE LUMSDEN DISTRICT. The establishment of Rabbit Board* under the amended Rabbit Nuisance Act was considered by the’ farmers of the Lumsden district last week. Mr W. D. Snowball, District Superintendent, accompanied by Mr G. A. Sands, Inspector of Stock, held meetings at Lumsden, Five Rivers, Castle Rock and Mossburn to consider what steps should, be taken to'cope with the rabbit pest. The farmers at all the meetings recognised that although the high prices of skins had increased trapping and reduced the number of rabbits, concerted action was necessary and that systematic trapping alone could not hold the rabbits in check. At every meeting it was decided that the necessary steps be taken to establish board* as this was the only way to ensure uniform and concerted poisoning, which was the most effective method of dealing with the pest.
