BOY THIEF’S ESCAPADES. (Per United Press Association.) * AUCKLAND, August 16. The police at Takapuna, suspicious of the movements of a supposed girl, demanded investigation of her belongings and found in “her” possession jewellery resembling articles stolen from houses. The police matron was about to search the prisoner when a policeman, struck by the resemblance, asked: “Is that you, Norman?” and a boyish voice, accompanied by tears admitted that he was identified. The identified boy is 15 years old. He was arrested in the South Island weeks ago for thefts at Weraroa training farm and escaped from custody at Wellington. He committed thefts at Napier and elsewhere and reached Auckland well-dressed and in possession of a con-, siderable sum of money. He was before the juvenile court here last Saturday and committed to a local home from which he deserted. When arrested he was -clothed > in well-made female attire.
