PROHIBITION

To the Editor. Sir—l have read “More Efficiency’s” letter dated, Dunedin, April 26. lie says the soldiers’ vote shows conclusively that our womenfolk arc strong for the “reform and are responsible for the big dry vote. Well, will be join forces with us ad help to get the reforms he talks about. He is a little behind the times, as the womenfolks have been discussing the advantages of a standardised dress for some time. Could he not help us to more the powers that be, men who design dresses and models for the gold it. puts into their own and their fellowmen’s and the shopkeepers pockets. When we get the women on the work, we will have some hope for permanence of comfort and convenience. Our American sisters have women architects to design their houses. I expect his lordship will still be wearing a woollen suit, but he only allows her ladyship two cooton ones, not much equality there. When we women voted dry, the men wore to have the same as we ourselves, not any less. One afternoon tea partv a week will suit us women fine. By the way, I send “More Efficiency” an invitation to my party next week, which I will make an afternoon hot water party, minus the tea, for him if he prefers it; you see, we are prepared to go to great lengths to accommodate mankind and ourselves. We could discuss some more reforms for the advancement of civilisation. For instance he could help us to get his fellowmen in Parliament to pass a law to make his fellowmen, the tanners, tan .the hides a bit better so that we could get footwear to keep the wet out when we get our standardised boots, or wc women may be forced to take a wee cirap to keep the cold out. So get on with your slogan and give us a hand; for with union there is strength.—l am, etc., MOKE AND YET MORE EFFICIENCY.
