The Federal Government has repealed the regulation controlling the consumption of paper. THE WAR PENSIONS. MELBOURNE, May 2. The annual war pensions liability now amounts to £4,974,805. SYDNEY RATES INCREASED. SYDNEY, May 2. Received May 2, 8.45 p.m. The City Council has increased its rates by 3d in the £. An analysis shows that in the past ten years, while labour employed by the Council has increased by 33 per cent., the expenditure thereon has increased 158 per cent. STATE GOVERNOR COLLAPSES. SYDNEY, May 2. Received May 2, 10.5 p.m. The State Governor, Sir Walter Davidson, collapsed in the Government House grounds. He is confined to his bed, but the cause of his illness is unstated.
