It will be the nucleus of what will probably be a large inland township, and it is only a question of a short time when Ohai will be as large as Nightcaps. Professor Park stated that Ohai is the centre of the largest undeveloped coal-field in New Zealand, and it is anticipated that the immediate output of coal from this coalfield will be larger than the output from any other mine in Otago or Southland. A railway is being constructed to within one mile of the proposed Township,' and eventually the railway will come right into it. The Sections are all high and dry and make good residential sites. The Sections of about 5 acres carry mineral rights, but in the smaller sections the coal rights are reserved. The reserving of the mineral rights means that the rights are reserved for all time and that no coal whatever will be mined from underneath the township area.
