VIOLET DAY
£1637 RAISED IN WELLINGTON. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 10. Violet Day was a great success. The weather was fine and workers were busy all day selling flowers, produce, and other goods. A procession was held, headed by the Trentham Band, and much interest was taken in the party of Maoris from Manawatu, who performed a Poi dance, I and sang tunefully. As the result of the day’s efforts £1637 was banked to-night, and there are still some boxes to come in from the suburbs.
