S.P.C.A.
A meeting of the Executive Committee of this Society was held recently, there being present Messrs F. W. Bicknell (president), W. Robson, J. McG. Watson, Rev. Mr Collie, and Mesdamea Taylor and von Tunzelman. Correspondence was dealt with relating to several cases of alleged ill-treat-ment of animals and the inspector’s report for March was received. Several owners had been cautioned during the month, but no civil action was necessary in any case. A sub-committee was appointed to obtain data regarding the alleged case of cruelty to a horse at last Riverton races, and when this is obtained it is probable that some definite action will be taken. It was decided to write to the Farmers’ Union asking for the sympathy and cooperation of farmers generally in this Important matter.
