Lennie, Farrant, Martin, Newall, O’Byrne, Petrie, Ridd and Smith, and the proceedings closed at 1:20 p.m., after a vote of thanks had been accorded the Returning Officer. CAMPBELL TOWN. ' Mr J. S. A. McDougall was re-elected Mayor unopposed. Ten nominations were received for the Council and. as nine only are required, an election will be necessary. The candidates are: G. V. M. Edge. W. Hinchey. A. ' McKenzie, E. A. Nichol, E. Parker, Jas. Torrance, John Valentine, E. W. Walker, Jas. Walker, and M. E. Wiig. Mr J. S. A. McDougall was re-elected to represent Winton and Bluff boroughs and the Stewart Island County on the Southland H. and C.A. Board. Mr W. Hinchey was re-elected to represent Campbelltown on the Bluff Harbour Board. WINTON. Mr T. Walker was elected Mayor, and, there being only the required number of candidates fonthe Council, the following were declared duly elected: R. M. Gilmour, J. R. Hamilton, H. Liddell, F. Moore, F. An election will consequently be necessary for the office of Mayor and lor the three seats for North Ward. MATAURA. More interest than usual is being taken in the forthcoming election for 'the new Council for the Borough of Mataura. f Usually it is a hard matter to get sufficient nominations, but this time 17 candidates are to contest the nine vacancies on the Council.
