.VOTES BY SIB MOORED. The annual racing fixture controlled by the Tlmaru Trotting Club will be held this afternoon. The following South-land-owned horses claim engage.ments ; —Sir Gavin, LlndetLa, and Lady Rothsoon. Some of the best horses at present in commission in Canterbury are engaged. The V.R.C. Autumn meeting will he continued to-day, when two weight-for-age events will form the principal attractions, viz., C. M. Lloyd Stakes (one mile) and The Governor Plate (one mile and a half).

The crack reinsman, J. Bryce, will he represented at the Timaru T.C. meeting to-day by Jolly Girl (a very smart mare), Harold Wilkes. Reta Petea, General Wilkes, and Sir Elmo.

Folycrates, winner of the Newmarket Handicap on Satuhday last, won over 2000 sovs. on the turf in England during his two and three-year-old racing career. At the Randwick Spring fixture he was unlucky enough to run second in both the Epsom and Metropolitan Handicaps. The imported horse was got by Polymelus (Cyellene—Maid Marian), the most successful sire in England during the past three years. Marmite. the dam of Bnlycrates, was by Ayrshire—Briseis, by Galopin (sire of St. Simon t. In his last three starts Folycrates has won 3600 sovs. In stakes in Australia.

Beltane, who finished second in the Dannevirke Cun, has been in a place on seven occasions this season, but so far has not won a race.

Mr W. Kerr, the well-known Canterbury breeder of light harness horses, has nominated fifteen youngsters for the Walmate Plains Futurity Stakes. He has offered to subscribe 25 guineas for a similar class of stage at Wanganui if the club puts one on.

Several days after winning the Wanganui Cup with Client Mr McDonald received a cablegram from New Zealand soldiers in London congratulating him upon his win. It will, therefore, be seen that the boys at the front follow the results of racing events in Mnoriland.

The Australian-bred Plymouth, who won the hurdle race on the concluding day of the recent Dunedin Cup meeting, has been entered for the Autumn Steeplechase and Brighton Hurdles at the Auckland R.C.’s Easter meeting.

J. Olsen was asked to go to Auckland to ride Bunting, hut was unable to comply with the request, having prior engagements at Riccarton at that period.

It is expected that the Otago Central mare, Jolly Girl, by Rothschild—Noveldale (Bryce) will be made a very warm first selection for the principal event of the Timaru T.C.'s meeting to-day from the Dsec mark, but she is likely to have very strong opposition from Imperial Perfection (Ssec), Rofike's Drift (12scc), and Cora Dillon (13sec), while .Sir Gavin 13sec (J. Brankin), will also have to be reckoned with, if dressed in his Sunday best, as he looks like pacing into the select class in the near future. Imperial Perfection, who is now trained by A. Pringle, was a particularly sweet three-year-old and finished second In Prince Akwood’s New Brighton Derby.

Harriet Graham, winner of the Australian Cup, is an imported four-year-old English mare, by William the Silent from Salt Hill.

After assisting with his team at the Timaru T.C. meeting to-day, J.
