The Paloona left Wellington on Tuesday .evening for Melbourne direct. She is now running two days late, but is expected to arrive bach at Dunedin on February 13 from Melbourne via Bluff — her schedule time. Cable advice received sta-tes that the Muddart-Parker steamer Witnmera left Melbourne last Saturday for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Wellington to-day, and will leave there on Saturday. The vessel is expected to arrive at Dunedin on Tuesday, February 6, ami is scheduled to sail the following dav for Bluff and Melbourne. It is reported that the steamer Warrimoo. which was built at Newcastle in 3 /92' by Messrs <S. Swan and Hunter, am 1 was owned hv the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd., was sold to a Chinese firm in the Straits Settlements for £sß,out). The vessel, which was registered at Dunedin, is of 3528 gross and 2076 net tons. The Te Anau was fixed to leave Auckland yesterday for Lyttelton, Tinmru, Xnmedin, and Bluff. The Mararoa arrived at Lyttelton at 9 a.m. yesterday, and connected with the (second express. The Kahika left New Plymouth on Tuesday afternoon for Westport to load Ccxd for Bluft and Oamaru.

Unsettled weather, with easterly gales, has prevailed In northern districts, and rain also fell in the extreme south during Tuesday night. Elsewhere northerly and easterly breezes predominated. There ans an extensive storm centre, which is located between Norfolk Island afid New Caledonia. Present indications are for a continuance of easterly gales' in northern districts. and for moderate to strong and increasing east to south-east winds elsewhere. Considerable rain is probable In the northern and east coast portions of the North Island, and cloudy to overcast conditions with scattered rain following elsewhere. The barometer is likely to fall further in the north, but has a rising tendency in southern districts.
