DIRECTORS’ MEETING. A meeting of directors of the Southland Metropolitan A. and P. Society, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs Jas. Fleming (chair), W. A. Cox, J. McCrostie, J. Drain. A. S. Holms, D. Marshall, J. Callender, W. Clark, W. D. Hunt, J. Carmichael, W. Roxburgh, and A. Horne. An apology was received from Mr G. Chewings. The Catholic Federation applied for the use of the Society’s grounds for its annual picnic.—Granted, and rental fixed. The Caledonian Society made a similar application in respect to its gymkhana, and the ground was granted under the same conditions. It was decided to have the Jubilee Show matter collected by and published in the Southland Times published in booklet form. The New Zealand Council of Agriculture wrote with reference to the judging for "most points” prizes in the various sections and suggesting a uniform system. —Adopted. Tlie Board of Agriculture wrolc stating that the time was again approaching for Southland to nominate a delegate to that body.—Arrangements to be made for a meeting of voting delegates. The Southland A. and P. Societies which are entitled to send delegates to a meeting to appoint tiie Southland delegate to the Board are: Metropolitan (two delegates) and Wallace, Gore, Winton, and Western District (one each). It was left in the hands of the secretary to arrange a date for tlie Ram Fair after consulting the local stock agents. The Southland War Funds Association wrote pointing out that Southland had no representative on the Military Service Board. —The secretary was instructed to write to the Minister of Defence suggesting that arrangements be made whereby the Board, during its Southland sittings, could have the assistance of a gentleman well up in the knowledge of provincial conditions. SUMMER SHOW. The secretary' submitted the balancesheet of the Jubilee Summer Show, which showed a profit of £lO9 IS/7 as against a loss of £26 10/- in 1915. In detail the balance-sheet is;— RECEIPTS. Gate, £6lO 16/6; entries and space, £334 11/-; privileges, £80; specials, £187; guessing, £l2 16/-; total, £1225 3/6, EXPENDITURE. Prize-money, £636 1/6; lunch, £34 10/-; printing and advertising, £122 14/9; wages and general expenses, £l3l 14/8; judges’ expenses, £77 14/-; bands, £l2 K»/- insurance, £10; profit, £199 18/7; total, £1225 3/6.
