NORTH SCHOOL COMMITTEE

At the monthly meeting of the above Committee the headmaster's report showed that, despite the somewhat rough weather at the end of August, the attendance had been well maintained, the percentage for the five weeks being 90.4. The roll number, now 322, is steadily increasing, and in view of the scope for the development of the district, may reasonably be expected to touch the 600 mark in a comparatively few years. Accommodation in the, buildings has been increased, and the general appearance enhanced by the addition of a new class room and a headmasters room, which have just been completed. In reference to the work of the school, although the latest inspector’s report is not yet available, in view of the previous reports it may be taken as being very satisfactory. Throughout, the school has responed creditably to the various appeals for assistance by way of raising funds for patriotic purposes. Being now faced by the considerably increased demands made upon it, the committee is considering the most effective means of augmenting its funds. The idea, so successfully carried out by the Middle School recently, of holding a school concert, has had to be abandoned, as the assistance of the staff could not be obtained In that direction. The committee hopes, therefore, by some other means, to be able to enlist the practical sympathy and support cf the residents In the school district.
