LAVCE-COBFOBAL J. A. MITCHELL. Lance-corporal John Angus Mitchell, who is reported on July 19 to have been wounded in the bead is a son of Mr A. C. and Mrs S. T. Mitchell, and was educated at the South and Middle schools. Prior to enlisting with the infantry of the Main Body of the Expeditionary Force, he was employed by Mr J. Matheeon as Insurance clerk. He was a keen athletic devotee, having been connected with the Y.M.C.A. Athletic Club, the Invercargill Railway Rowing Club, and the Harriers’ Club. He acted as honorary secretary for the First Church Young Men's Bible Class for several years, and was a member of the Loyal Orange Lodge. The latest report received regarding Lance-corporal Mitchell’s condition is to the effect that owing to hla Wound he is dangerously ill. LZEUTEVAVT DAWSOV HEBBEET. Mrs W. J. Marsh, of Wyndham (as next of kin) on Thursday received official advice that her nephew. Lieutenant Dawson Herbert, was wounded ,on the 13th. It may be mentioned that his elder brother is still invalided in England. but expecting to return to the front soon: the second (Trooper Gordon Herbert) died of wounds, and the fourth (Trooper John Herbert) is fighting in France. There remains in the family a married brother and two schoolboys. Lieutenant Herbert, who is about 20 years of age, was employed on the clerical staff of .Messrs Henderson and Co.’s Wyndham branch at the time he tnlisted.
