CLEARING SALE AT SOUTH HILLEND. A most successful clearing sale was held at South Hillend yesterday by Messrs J. G. Ward and Co., Ltd., on account of Mr T. McKenzie. There was a large attendance, and everything sold well A capital luncheon was provided. \ the weather was beautiful, most of those present were out to buy, the auctioneer •Mr Bruce Ireland/ was in his best < form, so that everything was conducive to good results. Sundries brought full values. LUMSDEN STOCK SALE. There was a medium yarding at the Lumsden monthly sale, not more than 1500 sheep being forward. The entry mostly comprised wethers and hoggets, only two small pens of ewes being in. The attendance was small, but bidding was exceptionally keen, practically all present being out to purchase. The sale was a very good one in the matter of prices, wethers selling particularly well. There was a fairly good yarding of cattle, which met with as strong competition as,the sheep. The buyers included three ,or four from Wlnton district, who,, ;were in ouest of decent store bullocks.

SALE AT SDENDALE. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report;—We held a special stock sale at the Kdenrtale saleyards on Wednesday, the 19th Inst., and were successful in clearing our yarding at satisfactory prices. Sheep—All classes met with a good demand. We sold; 30 f.m. ewes, 18/-; 63 do., 16/-; 32 old ewes, 7/6; 73 forward ewes, 18/7; 23 wethers, 27/4; 122 m.s. hoggets, 20/-; 63 do., 21/-. Cattle—The bulk of the yarding consisted of dairy heifers, which met with a keen demand. One line of 13 very choice heifers offered on account ’of Mr K. R. Hunter, brought the satisfactory average of £8 17/-. LONDON MARKETS. (United Service.) ‘ LONDON. July 19. At the wool sales there was an average selection of merinos and fine crossbreds, for which prices were maintained. Low crossbreds were irregular and in buyers' favour. There were some withdrawals. Kaputoni clip: Top 34}&d: average 31 -^d. The stock Inarkets arc subdued owing to the uncertainty of the bank rate, but are less depressed, as tite money conditions in New York are easier. Tallow —-543 casks were offered and sold. Mutton, fine 30/-, medium 46/6; beef, fine 49/6, medium 46/-. The New Zealand Loan Co. have received the following cable from their London Office: — Wool Sales—Market active. As compared with Sth June, merino superior, 3 per cent, to 7%; medium and inferior 7'/- to 10 per cent.; lambs, 5 per cent. higher: crossbred greasy and scoured, medium and coarse, about 5 per cent., lambs par to 5 per cent, lower; others little change.
