A LOCAL PETITION
REFERRED TO THE GOVERNMENT. (Special to the Times.) AV EDDINGTON', July 12. Tile report of the Dands Committee on the petition of John McChesney and 15 others, was presented to the House today. The petitioner asked that a certain right be granted to them under the Dand Act in respect of land situate at Seaward Bush, Soutli Invercargill, enabling them to acquire the freehold of their sections at a reasonable valuation. The committee reported that as a question of policy w r as involved it recommended that the petition he referred to ilie Government for consideration.
