OREPUKI SHALE DEPOSITS.

WELLINGTON, July 12,
Mr J. C. Thomson recently asked the Prime Minister whether during his visit to Great Britain he would bring under the notice of the Imperial authorities the valuable shale deposits in the southern portion of the dominion with a view to ascertaining whether they would be prepared to assist their development in order to obtain supplies of oil fuel for naval purposes.
The Prime Minister replied that the matter will not he lost sight of when opportunity offers.
The question of granting a salary to Mr Ilanan, Minister of Education, will bo considered by Cabinet shortly, as also the question of giving a vote to the Workers' Educational Association.
