ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION
A meeting of the Invercargill branch was held on Monday evening, the president, Mr K. J. Gilmour, in the chair. The report of the Motor Ambulance Fund showed a very satisfactory position, and in the near future Invercargill will have a new up-to-date motor ambulance, callable of conveying the injured with speed and comfort. The Red Cross branch are doing excellent work. Large quantities of material and clothing are being gathered, made up, and dispatched fortnightly. The First Aid and Nursing Certificates which, were gained at last season’s classes will be presented on Friday evening. February 25th, in the Council Chambers.
Throi kit and stretcher depots have been placed in suitable positions (Ladbrooks store, North Road, Welsh’s store, corner of Elies Road and Tweed streer, Freddy’s residence, Farrow street, east), and can be made use of in case of accidents. Arrangements were made for the working of the classes for the coming season. The Ladies' First Aid Class will commence carl\ in March.
