Received February 14, 8.25 p.m. German communique: Strong reconnoitring forces penetrated the enemy trenches and caused effective explosions south-east of Boesinghe. The British during the last two days shelled Lille with considerable material results. We did not suffer loss or military damage. In the fighting in Vimy district on 9th we captured 682 men and 35 machine guns. We stormed 700 metres of trenches south of Saint Mariepy, in Champagne, prisonering 20(i men. Two severe enemy attacks north-west of Messines failed. Air squadrons heavily bombarded the, enemy communications and railway buildings at Poperinghe. ENEMY ATTACKS IN ARTOIS POUB EFTOBTS BEATEN OPP FIGHTING AT OTHEB POINTS PARIS, February 14. Received February 14, 10.40 p.m. Communiques: A series of German attacks was made in Artois, from Hill 140 to the Buville-La Folle road. The first was made westward of the Hill in the morning, and four others at different points in the afternoon. Our curtain of fire stopped three, and the fourth penetrated our first line trench westward of Hill MO. We immediately counter-attacked and drove out the enemy. They also secured a footing in portions of our advanced trendies eastward of Tahure to Sommetry road. We carried out a destructive fire against the enemy organisations northward of Fourde. and tile artillery crushed an enemy attack eastward of Seupois in Alsace.
