Mr Ashmead Bartlett, in his opening lecture, justified tlie withdrawal from Gallipoli. The British could have held out against the Turks, and he believed they could have cut across the Peninsula, hut we could not run the chance of half a million Bulgurs falling on top of our isolated forces.
