The Dardanelles

•WAS, OPPICB STATE KEWT jnTPAWTWT OPERATIONS SUSPENDED ARTILLERT AS»D AEROPLANES ACTIVE (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON. Sept. 28. Received Sept. 28, 10.15 p.m. The War Office reports that recent operations on Gallipoli have been mainly confined on both sides to aircraft attacks, artillery bombardments and some mining. The Turks on one occasion opened a heavy artillery fire on the Suvla and Anzac fronts. The bombardment apparently preluded a general attack, but the only attack that followed was made by a small force upon the right-centre at Suvla. Our rifle fire easily dispersed the enemy. The same thing happened twice subsequently. Enemy aeroplanes more than once attacked our aircraft base and dropped bombs which did no damage. We coun-ter-attacked and our bombs blotted out a hangar and damaged the shipping at Burgaz. The Turks on the night of Septepiber 24th let loose watch-dogs against a french patrol. The dogs were all shot. ROLL OF HONOUR CASUALTY LIST 191. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 28.
