Tlie acceptances for the Southland Trotting Club's meeting this afternoon are very satisfactory, only; a few horses having dropped out, and followers of the American sport are looking forward to am interesting meeting. The club desire to make known the fact that all lady visitors to the fixture will be admitted free to the ground and enclosures. Owners of trotters are reminded that entries for the annual meeting of the Winton Trotting Club on April 14 close with Air W. D. Cowle this (Saturday) evening. TEHTNT3. OTAGO EASTER TOURNAMENT. DUNEDIN, April 2. The annual ■ Easter tournament promoted by the Otago Lawn Tennis Association was commenced to-day in rather wintery conditions. A shower of rain fell in tile morning and delayed play for about two hours, and from then onwards the weather was line but windy. The entries wore good but wore slightly behind those of last year. Tlie return representative match between Southland and Otago commenced to-day in cold, bleak weather, with snow on the surrounding hills, and with a strong wind blowing. The wicket was in splendid order, but a shade slow after two hours’ rain overnight. Driscoll, who skipped Southland, won the toss and elected to bat and Bannerman and Tapley opened to Ramsden and Crawford. Bannerman gut Itamsden’s second delivery away hard to tho square ieg boundary and Tapiey drove the same bowler for a couple, hut then sent a soft catch to mid on (7 —I—2).1—2). Crawford was sending down some fast swinging balls and was difficult to score off. At 4t Kemnitz was clean bowled by Ramsden after a careful innings (11 —3 —7). Poole and A. Hamilton then got going confidently and runs camo in a sparkling manner, chiefly from Boole's bat. Poole ag-ain lifted Ramsden over tho rails for a beautiful sixer. He reached his GO in 40 minutes. Hamilton got in several neat boundaries to leg, including a strong pull to the long-on boundary. The century was hoisted in G5 minutes amidst applause. Poole was droped at point at 48 and later on Nisbet placed Alloo just out of Crawford’s reach.
