Received March 23, 10.20 p.m. The fail of Przemysl came quickly after the capture of the hill on Friday, which enabled the Russian puns to dominate the town. The Austrian troops making the sortie fought pincklly nnd desperately, hut it was evident that the garrison wns too depleted to defend the whole twen mile perimeter of the assailants’ circle, which was narrowed each hoar. All hope of relief of the parrlson had been abandoned since the failure of the Austrian forces to expel the Russians from the Carpathians. The Austrians sacrificed 100,000 men in their efforts to relieve the position. For a long time bread bad been scarce in the town, and towards the end meat failed, all cattle and sheep being slaughtered and all horses killed for food. Disease was rampant and there was a terrible outbreak of typhoid. PARIS, March 23. Official: We hold onr trenches at Notre Dame do Lorette, which were disputed by the enemy.
