The bridegroom’s presents to the bridesmaids were pretty bold brooches. Among the large number of guests T noticed some very pretty- dresses. I may just mention those of Mrs W. Bradley, of Mh.nga.piri, who wore a lovely black with cream Maltese lace scarf, and black toque, with white ostrich plumes. The bride’s aunt. Mrs Wilson, of Kelso, wore a lovely green dress witii oriental trimmings and hat to match . After the ceremony- the guests adjourned to a spacious marquee decorated witii daffodils and greenery, where a sumptuous breakfast was tastefully laid nut. After having done justice io The good things provided, the chairman. Mr B. McEwen. in a pleasing and happy little speech, proposed the toast of tile bride and the bridegroom. This was drunk with musical honours, and suitably replied to by the bridegroom. The bridesmaids, proposed by Mr C. [.ay, was neatly replied to by Mr A. 1 kiilantyne. The toast of the parents of the bride and the bridegroom, was pleasingly proposed by Mr .1. Findlay, and responded to by the father of the bridegroom, Mr W. Bradley-, of Mangapiri. who proposed "Our boys who are going to the front," which evoked a truly patriotic response from the assembly . During the afternoon musical items ■were rendered by- Mrs Jackson. Messrs r. Bay and A. Ballantyne. The camera was also brought into requisition, while in the evening a very- pleasant and enjoyable dance was held. The numerous presents received on the occasion were both ornamental and useful, while the universal expression of esteem towards the young couple and all their connections by everyone present is ample evidence of the high regard in which the respective families are held by- the people of Orawia and Fcldwick.
