Received July 8, 5.55 p.m. On the occasion of the King and Queen’s visit to Glasgow the town clerk read a civic address of welcome. The Hon. T. McKinnon Wood (Secretary for Scotland) handed the King a reply which he began to read. After a few wonts His Majesty look puzzled, and realised that something w r as wrong. Ho found that Mr McKinnon Wood had given him the wrong reply. Their Majesties and all those present hurst into hearty laughter.
