THE WAIRIO RAILWAY.
To the Editor. Sir. — It is a good thing for the public of Invercargill that the new railway at Wairio is about finished. I have used some of tlie new coal and It is very good. I am further informed that not far from the present terminus of the railway' coal equal to the West Coast coal is available. No doubt it will come some time and let us hope that it will he soon. 1 believe if its capabilities were properly pointed out the present Government, if keot in power. would favourably consider the extension. As regards, the plate-laying and lifting the new railway track at Wairio was carried out by two qaulificd and experienced railway men. late of the Government service, namely, Messrs R. Townson and J. Sparks, and the Wairio railway I feel sure can bo depended upon for faithful working conditions after leaving their hands. The Company was indeed fortunate in getting two such experienced men.—l am, etc., PROOF. July G, 1914.
