The increased prosperity of most countries, and the new modes of civilisation are making mankind more carnivorous. and the luxury of meat food is not relinquished when once acquired. Higher prices will cause discontent amongst the industrial classes, and it is hoped that tlie situation wilt be eased by improvements in agriculture and stock raising both at Home and abroad.
