Airs Pankhurst appeared at St. Andrew's Hall, Glasgow, and spoke for two minutes, when constables rushed in. Several women armed with truncheons closed round Mrs Pankhurst, prepared to defend her. and the police drew their batons and charged the platform. 'Midst the Wild struggle revolvers were were fired from the platform, and miniature bombs were exploded. A number of women and police were injured. Mrs Pankhurst was arrested. DETAILS OK THE RIOT. A DETER MIXED RESISTAXOE. LONDON, March JO. Received March 11. 1t’.20 a.m. Mrs Pankhurst was captured at Glasgow while attempting to escape. She was bundled into a motor car by the detectives.. Hundreds of women attempted her rescue, but the mounted police rushed the crowd and took Mrs Pankhurst to the police station. ■■ Meanwhile the fight was continued In the hall. A dozen women on the platform produced stolit truncheons, anl stood behind a barbed wire fence concealed by flowers. , They hurled flowerpots and chairs about, and Joured pails of water on the police, while they were attempting to scale the four foot platform. The police, used their batons freely. Many women fainted. Rater, the crowd attempted to storm the police station, but several hundred constables repulsed them.
