HANDLING MEAT

FACILITIES AT LONDON DOCKS. (Per United Press Association.) GISBORNE. March 1 (I. At a meeting held in Gisborne early in February, at which MV J. H. Estill. representing the Port of London Authority, debated with Mr'W, D. Lysnar, of Gisborne, on the subject of facilities at London and West of England ports for handling Now Zealand produce. Mr Estill stated that New Zealand meat was being discharged at the Royal Victoria docks by elevators and endless conveyers were carrying the meat under cover' direct to the carts and railway vans Mr Lysnar challenged this statement and said that the conveyers merely carried the meat to a sorting base in the vicinity of the ship. Mr Estill challenged Mr Lysnar to cable the High Commissioner for information on the subject and this Mr Lysnar stralgth away did. He has now received a cable from the High Commissioner through the Premier, as follows' —"Please inform Mr Lysnar that there has been no alteration in the handling of New Zealand meat at the Victoria Docks since his visit, but the Port of London Authority have commenced work on sorting sheds by which frozen meat will be dealt with under cover.” Mr Lysnar therefore claims that Mr Estill mistook The facts and says this is not the only glaring inaccuracy which lias been circulated by an opponent of our growing cause.
