THE PANTOMIME.

To the Editor. Sir,—May I ask you to express to fh« Invercargill theatre-going public my firm's sincere regret at being unable to visit your city with this year’s pantomime of "Puss in Boots.” I am particularly "anxious for them to know that no slight is intended, and on the contrary that we so greatly appreciate tho hearty support given to our attractions in Invercargill that we have used every persuasion with the Competitions Society, including the offer of a bonus, to induce them to let us in on the Bth and 9th August, these being the only dateo fre could spend in Invercargill, although I have tried unsuccessfully to alter th® tour In such a way as to make other dates possible. A% the Victoria Hall Is available. I though perhaps the Competitions Society could have obliged us by confining these two nights to the less important subjects of competition, which could be taken at that hall, and allow us to have the use of your Municipal Theatre, but the secretary. Campbell, advises me that ins Committee does not see its way to make any alteration in the Competitions arrangements, so there is nothing for me to do but express. on behalf of my Firm, sincere regret for the unavoidable necessity of passing Invercargill with the Pantomime this year, and to express the hop® that no such insurmountable difficulties Say stand in the way of future s<* sons.—X em, etc., BERT ROYLBi Wellington, 26th March.
