HAYWARD'S PICTURES. ’ At the Lyceum Hall last evening the new programme’s second screening attracted a large audience. John Banyan’s “Pilgrim’s Progress” occupies pride of place in the latest series of motion films, but the supporting subject* are all creditable. There will be a matinee performance this afternoon, and the programme will be presented finally this evening. FULLERS’ PICTURES. The all-round merit of Fullers* gramme was sufficient te draw a large audience again last evening to the Zee--landia Hall, despite the Inclement weather. In scenic, dramatic, comedy and topical films the programme covers at wide range. When the two final screenings, this afternoon and evening, com* round there should be other large crowds to farewell the films. BARTON BROS’ CIRCUS AND VAUDEVILLE HIPPODROMS. This show will make its first pearance in Invercargill on Thursday* April 3rd, for a short season ef tlirea nights only, the location being Roche’s paddock, opposite the Hospital. This is the third annual tour of the firs* through the dominion, and to keef) faith with his thousands of patron* all over New Zealand, Mr F. J. Barton* made an extensive tour overseas im search of new artists, and has ..succeeded in securing what is now claimed as th* most expensive circus outfit that has yet toured this dominion. Th’e chief feature of the show is contributed by, the Hanley, Marguerite, and Hanley trio, the £4O-u-week artists, who como direct from Pringling Bres’ greatest! show on the face of the earth. They are announced as the monarchs of tho air. This act must be seen to be believed. The Baker Family, ten in number, who are imported from the Dublin Hippodrome, Ireland, include lady gymnasts, aerial artists, somersault riders, and tumblers. They are a show in themselves. The Bakers defy the laws of gravitation, and perform a number of tricks in mid-air which other highgrade stars could only perform on terra flrma. A long list of other performers includes Miss Baberlno, known as the “human serpent,” Miss Mena Val claims to be the only stock-whip expert in the southern hemisphere: Miss Kathleen Baker performs many wonderful feats on the flying trapeze, while "Happy Jackies,” the funny clown, keeps the audience in high good humour during the performance with his quips and jestry, Roy Barton and Hugo Franklno will perform some dangerous tricks, turning flipflaps and somersaults on galloping horses. The circus will play three nights only. On Saturday afternoon, at 3 p.ra., a special matinee will be given for school children and people living at a distance.
