THE DUNEDIN MYSTERY
•INQUEST. (Per United Press Association). DUNEDIN, December 89. An inquest was held-- this afternocrfß before Mr Graham ..(Coroner) on the* body (supposed to be that of Charles B, Jarman) found in the bash near the Northern Cemetery on Thursday. Dr. Gordon McDonald said that the man had died from a bullet wound. Captain) Beaumont said that C. B. Jarman was a, clerk In his office for about five years. Witness last saw him on the evening of December 2nd. Jarman knew witness had received a letter from the Depart-*, meut stating that the books were to be overhauled. Jarman said that everything was in older, and witness had no doubt on the mat ter. Jarman did not turn up next morning, and on the books being examined it was found that there was a deficiency of £62. It was very difficult to slate the exact amount of the deficiency without a complete audit of the books. Witness identified the writing on the letter found on the body as 'hat of Jarman.
The Coroner said that there was no doubt in his mind that the body was that of Jarman, and he brought in a verdict that the cause of death was a gunshot wound, self inflicted while deceased was in astate of insanity.
