A SIMPLE PROCESS,

The election of a member of the Proc vincial Council for the Electoral District of Waihopai, in the place of Mr Samuel Beaven resigned, took place yesterday, at the house of Mr Robert Coupland, Puni Bush. At the hour appointed (noon) the only persons present were the Returning Officer, (Mr John Hare), and three electors. , , ~ After waiting a quarter of an hour, the Rorturniug Officer, having briefly opened. ttt£ proceedings, called upon the persona jffesent to nominate candidates. Air Alexander Ross, of Rossljn Bush* proposed Mr Thcs. Swale as a fit and proper person to represent the district in the Provincial Council. Mr W. H. Pearson seconded the nomination. , ~ Xo other person being proposed, tha Returning Officer declared Mr Swale duly elected, and the proceedings then terminated.
