Two motor l:u uses collided on a hill at Oporto, and one of tho vehicles was hurled over a precipice. Nine passengers were killed and seven others are in a critical condition. TEMARU. April 11. In order to avoid a collision with a gig at a street crossing in a quiet part of the town this afternoon, the owner and driver turned a big motor car too sharply round a, corner with tho result that one hind wheel collapsed and the car fell on Us side, throwing out the driver and four or fiye young women passengers. The ear neverlbelc's hit the gig. threw it forward and capsized it. Tho driver of the car had his collarbone and one or more riles broken ; his sister and Miss K. Ardagh, daughter of the proprietor of the Commercial Hotel, both, suffered severely from concussion and bruises ; other occupants of the car escaped with scratches and bruises. Tho man in the gig (Mr B. Butler) struck the kerb with his head when lie fell, was cut about the face and later showed symptoms of skull fracture. Ambulance men did good service before doctors arrived in removing the .patictus, farce of them to (lie hospital. A (all hedge at the corner was probably a factor in bringing about the accident.
