A severe thunderstorm passed over Mataura on 'Wednesday afternoon (writes our correspondent) with very heavy showers; but, from the appearance of the river to-day (Thursday) it does not seem to have extended far northward. There is an improvement in the weather to-day, and it is hoped that the thunderstorm will have cleared the atmosphere and settled the weather to enable the farmers to have the crops harvested. Very little threshing has been done yet, but what has been done shows very heavy yields.
