A MISSING GREENKEEPER

tYer United Press-Association)

PALMERSTON N(jRTH, March 27. There is considerable anxiety amongst officers of the Manawatu Golf Club over the mysterious disappearance of their green-keeper. Jack Jeromson. Jeromson hailed from Dunedin, whence his parents came and joined him In residence on the links. The course was his hobby, and hd did admirable work, upon it, which was well appreciated by the members, In January he suffered from influenza and . was ordered a holiday change, and on February 6th he left here for Auckland, telling his people that he might visit Rotorua or Tekuitl before coming back. He sent a post card from Auckland stating that he had arrived safely, and from that moment* all trace of him has been lost. His parents were naturally the first to become anxious. He has been a devoted son, and whenever absent before, has always written regularly and given full particulars of his movements. Enquiries have already been made at Rotorua without finding trace of his having been there. Similarly enquiries have been made at Tekuitl and Auckland, and the, matter has now been placed in Hhe hands of the police, as his parents fear that there may have been foul play In view of the sandbagging cases. It is thought, however, that Jeromson was severely affected by an influenza attack, may be somewhere 111, and may have lost his memory. There is no reason known why he should go away, and he was known to be keen to get back to his -work before the golf season, for which he had to prepare. He is an enthusiastic amateur photographer, and he took his camera with him, and the only other article he had was a canvas kit bag, which he had borrowed and which, had the name "R. Rule” painted on it. He is 27 ypanf of age, "was clean shaven, ■strongly built, fair, with a particularly pleasant, Open countenance, and was about 0 feet 10 Inches in height. iWhen he left here he was wearing a grey suit, a grey overcoat, and a grey cap.
