FIRES
(Per United Press Association). HASTIXGS, ■March 27. A flvc-roomecl house, owned by Mr J. Hill, and occupied by Gavin Allan, Union Secretary, was destroyed by fire last evening. Owing to the absence of water everything was destroyed. Allan’s sons, aged 5 and S, were the only occu-
pants at the time and had a narrow escape, being rescued just in time by a passer-by. Mr Allan, sent, was away at a meeting and Mrs Allan was nursing in the country.
