ANOTHER MINE DISASTER
SEVENTY MEN ENTOMBED. [By Telegraph.—Press Association. —Copyright. 1 NEW YORK, March 2S. An explosion in the mine of the Jed Coal and Coke.Company at Welsh, West Virginia, entombed seventy miners. Ten have been rescued alive and one dead body has also been recovered. Strong hopes are being entertained of the remaining men being rescued alive. DEATH NODE EXCEEDS 80. HOPE ABANDONED. NEW YORK. March 27. Received March 27, 11.25 p.m. Latest reports concerning the Virginian mine disaster are that the death roll exceeds eighty. Ninety-three men were involved, but eleven reached the surface alive. Six bodies have been found and indications lead to the abandonment of hope for others.
