NO CORPORAL PUNISHMENT. COPENHAGEN, March 20. The Folkething is renewing the law passed in 1905 abolishing the infliction Of corporal punishment of criminals. AN APPEAL UPHELD. LONDON, March 19. The Court of Appeal lias decided in favour of Sir John Benn in the case wherein the Stud Tramway Company was awarded £12,000 damages. The Appeal Court held that the attack was on the system, and was not personal. Kotice of further appeal was given. CONFERENCE OF RECHABITES. MELBOURNE. March 21. The Kcchabites’ Conference resolved, in order to promote full fraternal unity, that the establishment of a Rechabite Federal Council, and a movable Conference for Australia and New Zealand was desirable. The Conference also recommended the consolidation of sick funds. It was decided, in view of the arrival of a large number of British Rechabite immigrants, to endeavour to secure the necessary alteration of the laws to provide for clearance of oversea immigrants in Australia and New Zealand. CHOLERA OUTBREAK ENDED. HONOLULU, March 21. The cholera outbreak has ended.
