ITS POSSIBILITIES. (B j Toiegraph—Press Association-Copyright). BOXDOX, Jan. 24. The Hon. G. J. Jenkins, late AgentGeneral for South Australia, read a paper on “Papua” at the Colonial Institute, saying that there- were indications that Papua would easily become one of Britain's valuable assets, and would assist. in relieving the Empire from dependence on foreign supplies. Mr J. H. P. Murray, Governor of Papua, who presided, said that tiie Papuan Government recognised it as a duty to preserve the natives from tin 1 fatal effects of contact with European civilisation. and the only way to do that was ,tO encourage their industry.
