Following is Mr Bates' summary and forecast ; —The weather lias been fairly warm and humid generally, but rain has fallen in the southernmost districts. Squally westerly winds were experienced during the night in Foveaux and parts of Cook Straits, but the wind lias been mostly variable and the barometer lias made little movement. Present indications are for warm and humid condition ; generally, with passing clouds and Showers in parts. Winds will probable be variable in most parts of the country. moderate to strong easterlies predominating in tiie North and westerlies in and southward of Cook .strait. The barometer lias a failing tendency in the far North, but will probably rise shortly In the South.
