The dispute of Canterbury Printers and Machinists was before the Conciliation Commissioner to-day. Theuuion s demand, for a fortyeight hours' week was conceded, but a proposal that journeymen be paid £J os was reduced to Wellington rates. A proposal that the award should recognise only journeymen and apprentices threatened to conclude "the proceedings as the employers refused to accept classification or to consider Tether conditions until the clause was withdrawn.
