WYNDHAM NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual concert and dance in aid of the Mokoreta-Redan Public Hall Fund took place on Friday last. , There was a very large attendance. The greater part of the programme was contributed py the Wyndham -Minstrel Company. The concert was opened witlt a pipe selection by Piper John McDonald, for the first half of the entertainment the Vvyudharn Minstrel Company occupied the stige. A programme similar to the one given by the company at Glenham a week ago was gone through, and each item was heartily applauded. A mirth-provoking farce “Echoes in the Wood," concluded the first half of the entertainment, Messrs J. L. B. Mackay, P. Jones and J. L. Kings land taking part. To open the second part Miss Pulley played a pianoforte selection. Songs were rendered by Hiss C. Marsh and Messrs Kingsland (encored) and W. Gemmell. Another farce, “Can You See Me?’’ brought the entertainment to a close. The concert was voted one of the most successful ever hold at Mokoreta. Alter the concert a successful dance was held. Music was supplied by local volunteers and Mr J. Woods was M.C. The takings at the door were i‘l4 Ss. A competition to guess the gross proceeds was heid, Mrs W. Eeange and Messrs A. Nicolsosi and A. Saunders tielng. A committee meeting of the Wyndham A. and P. Society was held on Saturday evening, 19 th inst., and attended biMessrs C. Milne (chairman), K. Arnott, P. Campbell. A. Bell, A. Campbell, D. Gordon, R. Shields, Jas. McGlinchey, A. Beangc, T. W. Foster and Jas. Beange. The tender of Mrs Beatson was accepted for a refreshment booth on the ground on day of show. At his request Mr John Waddell's trophy was transferred from “Most Points in Draught Horses” to "Most Points in Show dorses, sheep and cattle).” Trophy to bo won three times, not necessarily in succession. The secretary reported that a light horse Judge had not yet been appointed. He had asked Mr James Fleming to act. Messrs Bell and Milne were empowered to arrange for a judge for this class when at Dunedin Show-, in the event of Mr Fleming not being available. A considerable amount of correspondence between the secretary and the District Traffic Manager re excursion fares on Show day was read. ■ Excursion faros for this day were refused. To this strong exception was taken by the committee. The secretary was instructed to make inquiries as to cost of insurance against accidents, am,l, if reasonable, t,° take out a risk for Show day. Messrs Bell and Gordon offered fat sheep for guessing competition on Show day. The secretary and Mr A. Beange were appointed a ground committee to make arrangements for day of show. A list of points for consideration, to be used in competition for judging a dairy cow was presented by the secretary. It was decided to get cards of same printed for use on Show day. Wyndham and Gore Cricket Clubs will meet here for their first cup rnatcli on Wednesday. Games between these two clubs are always keenly contested. The ground is in first-class order, the whole area having been mowed on Saturday. Both teams are strong this year, and. with a line day a good exhibition of cricket should be given.
