Messrs Donald Reid and Co. report:— We held our auction sale of grain and produce at our stores on Monday. There was a small attendance of buyers, but with good competition most of our catalogue was speedily cleared at quotations. .Values ruled as under — Oats.—Stocks in stores are now much reduced, and are being absorbed chiefly by the local trade, consequently no export business of any .importance is passing. For all classes of oats the demand continues good at late values. We quote: ■—Prime milling, 2s to 2s 3d; good to best feed, 2a Id to 2s 2d; Inferior to medium, Is ltd to 2a pier bushel; sacks extra. Wheat.—The past week has been quiet, so far as business with millers is con•cerned. A few choice lots of velvet and veivet-ear have been placed, on the basis of late quotations, but medium lines have not been in favour. Best, whole fowl wheat continues to mec-t with fair sale. We quote:—Prime milling velvet, 3s lOd to is; velvet cur Tuscan, etc.. 3s 7d to 3s 8d; medium to good, 3s srt to 3s fid: best whole fowl wheat, 3s 2d to 3s 3 Mid; medium, 2s Bid in 3s Id; broken and damaged, 2s 2d to 2s Jht pep bushel, sacks extra. Chaff.—The market is moderately supplied with prime quality which meets with ready sale on arrival. Medium quality is not over plentiful, but any lots offering are readily quitted at quotations. We quote; Prime oaten sheaf, £1 12s fid to £4 17s fid; medium to good, £4 5s to £4 10s; inferior and discoloured, £3 10s to £4-2s fid per ton; sacks extra. Potatoes.—New potatoes are now offering freely, and ns last season’s potatoes are still plentiful, prices have eased considerably. Prime samples find most sale, but medium and inferior lots are difficult to quit. We quote;— Prime freshly picked Up-to-Dates, £9 15s to £10; medium to good, £1) to £9 12s fid; inferior and small, £8 10s to £8 10s. Straw. —Wheaton, 27s fid to 30s; oaten, 32s 6d to 37s 6d per ton (pressed).
