BLUFF ANGLICAN MISSION.

The week of mission services conducted in tills church by Rev. Canon Tup-per-Carey was brought to a close on Sunday. The mission lias aroused a large amount of interest, not only among the Anglicans, but among the adherents of other religious bodies, the services have been largely attended, and the church was packed at the evening service on Sunday. Holy Communion was partaken of by 76 persons at the morning service. The special feature of the mlssioner’s addresses at each of the services was their directness. It is said that many persons who had allowed their interest in church matters to lapse into Indifference have been prompted to renew their atendance, and that in others apathy lias been quickened into earnestness.

At the conclusion of the evening service the Rev. W. Swinburne asked the congregation to affirm the following resolutions; — (1) This congregation of St. Matthews Church considers that the lime lias arrived at which steps should he taken to obtain a resident clergyman. (2) That a committee .be formed consisting of the Ladies’ Guild and the Church Committee to confer and devise means and take the necessary steps to ascertain what amount can be obtained towards the funds of a stipend for a resident clergyman. Both the resolutions were carried, and the hymn, “God be with you till we meet Again” was sung at the close of tin service.

Canon Tupper-Carey left Bluff yester day for Kuraara via Otira Gorge, where he will conduct a mission next week.
