Canrobert. is a beautifully-propor-tioned darki brown horse, with great power and substance, standing 16.2 on splendid legs and bone measuring BVi Inches. Soult, hia sire (son of St. Simon), Is one ol the most successful stallions ever sent out of England to Australasia. His stock have won stakes to the value of about £IOO,OOO, winning this season 64 races in New Zealand, and again heading the winning sues list with £16.044. Cftiuobert is full brother to those weli-pertormed horses Marshal Soult, Grenadier, General Soult, Annie Soult, Aerina. etc.. His stock are hlghjly thought of, and the enly one of his yearlings sold at auction realised 306 guineas, the highest price yet paid for a Southland-bred yearling. Hotcherina, his dam, by Hotchkiss (son of Musket) and sire Of Multiform, Royal Artillery, True Blue. Screw Gun, Machine Gun. Siege Gun, etc. Hotcherina never raced, and on being put to the stud unbroken was considered one of the best mares at Glenora Park Stud Farm, from which Canrobert was purchased as a yearling for 630 guineas.
