HOSPITAL SATURDAY

■■..■aQiriw PKSI.iaiXK'ASY ABBANGEMEB’TS. A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Southland Hospital Saturday Association was held in the Municipal Chambers last, night, and was attended by Mr .1 as. Ward, President, Messrs F. \V. Bicknell. I). McGregor. T. Simon, Mesdames Hendry, Stewart, Hawke, Ward, Matron Ewart, and Die Secretary, Mr A. A. Paapc. Seven al apologies were received for absence as a commitiee meeting of the City Council prevented the attendance of quite a number of members, including His Worship the Mayor, Mr C. S. Longuet. The principal business of the meeting was the making of arrangements for collectors and assistants on Hospital Saturday, 51h March. The secretary reported that he had communicated with forty ladies who had assisted last year, and that a, large number of replies had been received stating that they would he pleased to again assist in the collection. Circulars are being prepared and will be sent out calling a meeting of ladies in the Council Chamber at half-past o on Tuesday afternoon, when the various stations in the central portion of the town, in what used to bo the suburbs, and in what now are the suburbs, will be allotted. It is earnestly desired that there should be a large attendance, and it is hoped that all ladies who are willing to assist in the collection on Hospital Saturday will not only make a point of being present themselves, but will acquaint their friends who are also interested in the movement of the fact that the meeting is to be held, and that the assistance of ail will be greatly appreciated. A small committee consisting of Messrs Bicknell, Simon, and McGregor, was appointed to make arrangements to secure the services of motor cars on the day of the collection. Mrs James Ward was appointed to look after the catering in the hall, and for the assistants on sth March. A great deal of routine business was transacted, and all indications point to the fact that preliminary arrangements are being thoroughly attended to, and that no effort is being spared to make the third Hospital Saturday as successful as Us predecessors were. The immediate concern is that there should bo a large gathering at the ladies’ meeting on Tuesday afternoon next.
