HIS SO'UKICSBH TO'oii. Ti.c Hon. U. AicKonr.ie, Minister lor Public Works, arrived in Invercargill from Queenstown via the 'Wttimea line, by the 5.20 train yesterday afternoon. Tin- Minister was accompanied by his v.ife, and other members of Ills party were .Messrs C. E. -Matthews (private secretary). W. Krascr, -M.P. for Wakaliiai, and F. W. Furkert, District Engineer for Public Works in Otago. They v.-.-re met at the station by .Mr 13. It. Clean, idincs inspector for Otago, Mr ,1. A. I lanan, Ai.P„ His Worship the. Mayor. Mr O. S. Longuel, Air T. \V. Itrebner, TraiHc Manaßcr, and Mr A. .1. .McCrcdle, District Kailway Engineer. To-day the Minister will travel hy (lie 5.55 a.m. train for Orepnki in order to inspect the Orcpuki-Wniau railway construction. Tho Inspector of Mines will accompany Mr McKenzie and the opportunity will bo taken to look over ihe mining industry in that district. The party wili return from Orcpuki tomorrow morning and wiil almost immediately go on by the Waimahaka. lino to inspect the construction works there. li’rom Waimahaka the Minister will proceed to Wyndham thence catching the train for Gore on Wednesday night. On Thursday the Waikala and Walkaka works will bo inspected and the night will again be spent in Gore. On Friday Air McKenzie will go by way of I’alclutha to Houipapa on the Faaiiin- line, returning to BalcUiihu and thence on to Kaitangata, where Friday night will be .spent. On Saturday lie will return to Kalclutha in time to attend a banquet there In the evening. At a late stage of his tour the Minister will make his way by the Clutha Valley to the Koxbnrgh District. A Bnlciulha message stales that Mr Malcolm, .M.P. for Clutha, will accompany the Minister for Public Works to Waimahaka. on Wednesday, and will introduce any deputations that wish to wait on ihe Minister.
