Cycling Sports.
The local club have received entries for Die whole of the events at their meeting on -Wednesday next that have exceeded their most sanguine expectations. Given fine weather the record established by the number of .' competitors should be supplemented by ft. record attendance of the public. The intending compositors include riders from Christchurch, B. Campion and J. Chalmers ; also four promising cyclist from Timaru, two from Tuieri and others from Roxburgh, Alexandra South, Waikaka, Winton, Orepuki, Gore, Mataura, Oamaru, and Invercargill. For the Maiden Race there are ten half mile, 81'; mile, 33 ; two mile wheel race of £lB, 31. Tho consolation mile, post, entries, should also lie well filled. For the Amateur Sheffield, 135 yards’, there are 20 entries and for the Relay Race of 1 mile, six teams have entered, vjz., Gore two teams Invercargill Harriers 2, and Union Harriers 2. The track is in excellent order, and to avoid any mishap only competitors and officials will bo allowed inside tho ring. This course will safeguard competitors . and doubtless will be greatly appreciate! by the public as well as by them.
