THURSDAY, 4th MAY, Before Mr G. W, Riddell, S.M. NO DEFENCES. Judgment by default was given in T. Millar v. Jae. Paterson (Bluff),, for £3 7s Gd, costs Gs ; W. L. Taylor (Woodlands) v. F. Eggleton (Grove Bush), for £5 Ils 9d, costs £1 19s 6d ; Herbert, Haynes and Co* t v. P. B. Berndston; (Riverton), for £7 9s Id, costs 13s; Fanny Hall v. G. H. Bull, for £9, costs £1 3s 6d ; Canada Cycle and Motor Co. v. A. Small (North Invercargill), for £6 2e Gd, costs £1 5s Gd. 'Victoria home. Tho Victoria Memorial Home Society sued G. H. Bull for £IO. Mr Watson, who appeared.. for the Society, stated that a daughter of the defendant had been received into tho Homo and nursed through her confinement. Sho was in tho Homo for eight months altogether. The defendant was anxious that she should bo received there, and signed a paper promising to pay £lO towards expenses. He had paid nothing and therefore the committee was obliged to sue him. Mi s Baird gave evidence in support of the claim, and the Magistrate gave judgment for £lO, costs £1 5s 6d. Tho defendant did not appear. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES. Tho Canada Cycle and Motor Co. (Mr M. Gilfedder) sued T. A. Lindsay (\Mnton'y for £2O is 3d on a judgment summons. Counsel said tho case had been adjourned nt different times to give the debtor an opportunity to reduce his liability, but no' communication had been received from him. Tho Magistrate said that as defendant did not appear an order would be made for the judgment by the 13th inst., in default 14 days' imprisonment. The same Company sued John Wakefield (Clifden) for £l3 Os 3d. He did not appear and the Magistrate made an order for the payment of £2 monthly,' in default 10 days’ imprisonment.
